Enrolment options

Students in this course will continue to perfect their English speaking and listening skills through practice in speaking extemporaneously and listening to complex English audio (including the voices of their instructor and peers!) for connotation and implied meaning. Students will be exposed to a variety of accents through English-language media, collaborate on assignments that develop their ability to communicate both casually and professionally, and, by the end of the course, be prepared to use and understand spoken English flexibly, effectively, and fluently. Course topics will vary, from current issues, to contemporary US popular culture, to standards in professional and social life.

Core competencies trained: listening in non-classroom settings; speaking spontaneously, among peers and for academic and professional purposes; understanding of and engagement with English-language culture
