Seminar Schedule and Preparation:

The block seminar "High-Performance Materials for Fusion Technology" is designed to combine intensive learning with opportunities to foster creative thinking and innovative problem-solving. By focusing on the unique challenges faced by materials in extreme environments, the course highlights principles of performance, stability, and durability under demanding operational conditions. The seminar is divided into two main phases: the first phase includes four days of lectures and workshops, and the second phase concludes with a three-day session for project presentations and discussions. A six-week self-study period between these two phases allows students to deepen their knowledge and develop their projects.

In Part 1, students will attend lectures on the fundamentals of fusion materials, innovative approaches to material development, and diagnostics, with an emphasis on sustainability and performance under extreme conditions. These lectures are complemented by interactive workshops, where students apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges.

During the self-study phase, students are expected to work independently or in groups to research and design solutions for high-performance materials in fusion reactors. This phase includes support through online Q&A sessions with lecturers, providing guidance on project development and addressing any questions.

In Part 2, the focus shifts to application and evaluation. Students will present their projects, showcasing their proposed material solutions, manufacturing pathways, and sustainability assessments. The sessions also include discussions to critically evaluate the projects and consolidate key concepts.

Active participation in all parts of the seminar, thorough preparation using the provided materials, and engagement in group work are essential for success. This seminar offers a unique opportunity to explore advanced material concepts in a highly interactive and collaborative format.
