This seminar provides an intensive introduction to research methods in education, tailored for future teachers. Over seven sessions, we will bridge theory and practice by exploring how educational research is conducted and how it can inform teaching. Key areas include formulating research problems and questions, reviewing literature to build a conceptual framework, choosing appropriate research designs, understanding qualitative and quantitative methodologies (and their analysis techniques), and considering mixed-methods and action research approaches. The emphasis is on developing research literacy – i.e. the ability to find, understand, and critically reflect on scientific research and apply its conclusions to educational problems and decisions. By the end, students will have designed a small-scale research proposal grounded in literature, with a well-defined question and a justified methodology (note: no data collection is required). The course is conducted in English, and all discussions, readings, and assignments will be in English.
