Students in this course will come into closer contact with British and American English. To enable students to communicate more fluently, we will train all language competencies (listening, reading, speaking, and writing), with a slightly stronger emphasis on speaking. There will be a particular focus on stating and defending opinions, participating in discussions, writing analytically, and reading and listening for content. In this course, we will lay particular emphasis on discussing the state of the world, developments in technology and society, and the future. We will read news and science articles, listen to reports and podcasts, watch video explainers, and read science fiction.
